Common Characteristics

     Although jazz and Celtic are two distinct musical genres, a few similarities exist within their musical styles.  Both have wide intervals along with large melodic leaps.  A tonal center is favored for many songs of these genres. Improvisation can be as prevalent in Celtic music as it is in jazz.  Likewise, vocables are widely used in Celtic music as well as in jazz.
